Quality & validation

Define the requirement.
Agree the evidence.

A quality plan starts with a clear specification. We establish what needs to be checked, when it needs to be checked and who approves the result.

A project-specific approach

Approval criteria belong in the development brief.

Every housing has different priorities. A connector fit may be critical in one product; sealing, appearance or installer access may lead in another. The review and inspection scope should reflect those priorities.

These checkpoints describe our approach to planning a project. The exact inspections, records, tests and deliverables are agreed in the project scope.

Development checkpoints

Four stages of review.

01

Requirements review

Define the application, operating conditions and functional interfaces before selecting a development route.

Agree or record

Product envelope, component information, installation environment and required performance.

02

Design & material review

Review the enclosure geometry, assembly and material specification together.

Agree or record

CAD revision, critical fits, material grade, colour, finish and proposed validation needs.

03

Prototype & sample review

Use physical samples to check the questions appropriate to the development stage.

Agree or record

Fit and assembly observations, dimensional checks and an agreed list of changes.

04

Production approval

Establish the production reference and inspection requirements before repeat supply.

Agree or record

Approved sample, drawing revision, acceptance criteria, packing and dispatch requirements.

Material selection and product validation.

A resin grade, a moulded part and a complete assembled product have different validation requirements. A material datasheet alone does not establish the performance of the finished enclosure.

  • Identify the intended operating conditions and target market.
  • Review the relevant material properties and grade documentation.
  • Define sample configuration, assembly and test requirements.
  • Agree responsibility for laboratory testing and final product approval.

Ratings and certification

Ingress protection, impact resistance, flame performance and other product claims depend on the specific design, material, assembly and applicable testing.

Any required standards, independent testing or certificates must be identified and confirmed for the individual project. This page does not certify a product or claim an accredited in-house laboratory.

Before repeat supply

Keep the reference clear.

  • Identify the approved drawing and part revision.
  • Agree the sample or other acceptance reference.
  • Define critical dimensions and cosmetic acceptance criteria.
  • Confirm inspection records and any traceability requirements.
  • Review changes to material, design or tooling before implementation.

Inspection sampling, reporting, traceability and change-control requirements are agreed with the customer. They are not assumed to be identical across all projects.
